Natsu Onoda Power is a maker of performances, director of plays, designer of sets, builder of objects, and illustrator of projection contents and props. 

 

Natsu’s work is highly visual, drawing on graphic novels, animation, and Japanese kamishibai tradition. Kamishibai (translates to “Paper Theater”) is a pre-cinema street performance form, in which a solo performer tells stories using a series of illustrated placards. 

 

Natsu is currently a Professor in the Department of Performance Studies at  Northwestern University, Evanston, IL. Prior to joining Northwestern faculty in fall 2024, she lived in Washington DC, making theatre and teaching at Georgetown University.
